3 Weeks Post Op!!

Completely off topic, it is incredibly cold!  This is the deep south.  What is going on??  Anyway...

Well things are getting a little easier each day.  I am feeling great physically and mentally.  However, I still fight the head hunger demon.  Everytime it happens I picture that green fuzzy monster on the Weight Watchers commercials and laugh.  In thinking about it, no one ever seems to deal with him.  No matter what diet you are on, Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, Nutrisystem, Atkins, South Beach, what causes him to hop out and haunt you is never dealt with.  Yes, these programs can be good for some, and yes, they deal with how to handle the hunger, but they never get to the root cause of the hunger.

I went to see a registered dietician yesterday. It was a very helpful session. Usually, patients see her before surgery, but I was seeing my diabetes dietician pre surgery. The dietician was VERY helpful and provided me with a plethera of information. She gave me a schedule of when to add foods and sample daily schedules for when to eat. That in particular will be helpful beginning Monday when I go back to work. Some of the information is contradictory to my surgeons information, but as I am learning, no one person is alike. I have to learn my new anatomy, and do what I need to do for me. It is with this that I am taking the basic information from my surgeon and incorporating some of my new information as needed.

I am adding a few new things to my food list.  From the surgeon's list I am now adding cottage cheese and multigrain cereal.  From the dietician's list I am now eating beans, legumes, and ground turkey.
