In light of the August support group, I have decided to make this particular page an informational one. Many people at the support group, mostly pre-ops, where in need of resources. So here are some of my favorites. My lists are NOT all inclusive, but I may add on as time passes. Also, remember, no one source should replace the advice of your surgeon, unless he is a quack.
Vitamins and Supplements
Let me say first, I do not have trouble swallowing pills as many post-ops do. Therefore, I am quite pleased with my regular adult Multivitamin from Publix. It is comparable to the Centrum Adult Vitamins. I take two a day.
Celebrate Vitamins - This is where I get my calcium chews. My favorites are the Calcium Plus 500 and the Calcet Creamy Lemon and Chocolate Chews. They also have a variety of multivitamins as well.
Vitalady - This website is run by a bariatric patient. She has tons, did I say tons, of things you can get from her site. She has vitamins, protein powders, syrups, etc. Definitely a place to browse.
Unjury - This site offers a medical quality whey protein. The best protein a bariatric patient can have is whey isolate. I honestly hated all protein drinks I tried. This was the most tolerable.
Informational Sites
These are the sites I frequent for information, forums, menus, etc.
American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery - This where you go to find the information about vitamin and supplement recommendations for all the surgeries. Go here and look up calcium if your surgeon starts to tell you to take a TUMS or a Flintstone's Vitamin.
Obesity Help - Lots of articles, surgeon reviews, forum information, etc. can be found here. Not a day goes by that I do not lurk in these pages, even if only for a brief time.
The World According to Eggface - This is a wonderful site by a bariatric patient. She shares her bariatric friendly recipes here. Food porn can be found here on occasion.
Bariatric TV - I love, love, love these ladies! They are two "freaks" that keep it all real!
Melting Mama - Another one keeping it real for the bariatric world
Eating Well, Living Thin - This is an aesthetically beautiful place to visit. Linda posts the most amazing recipes and pictures.
Pam T - Another WLS patient that has a lot of information
Andrea U. - Andrea has TONS of information about nutrients and supplements that one should be taking post weight loss surgery.
Bariatric Foodie - Nikki and Jen are WLS patients that created Pouch Party. They through Pouch Parties to introduce great receipes to grops of WLS patients, family, and friends.
